A solution of p-toluenesulfonic acid (0.1 g; 0.6 mmole) in 5 ml of chloroform-methanol was dissolved in a solution of 0.18 g (0.6 mmole) of 2-(4-pyridyl-piperazino)-5,6-dihydro-7-methyl-6-oxo(7H) pyrrolo[2,3-d]-pyrimidine in 30 ml of chloroform-methanol, and the mixed solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The precipitated crystals were washed with hexane to give 0.25 g (yield 90%) of the desired compound.
