A solution of 5-Formyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalene-1-carbonitrile (0.30 g, 1.6 mmol) in MeOH (8 mL) was added (2-amino-ethyl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.26 g, 1.6 mol) in MeOH (8 mL), followed by AcOH (0.29 g, 4.8 mmol) and NaBH3CN (0.20 g, 3.2 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred 2-3 h, and then water (20 mL) and DCM (20 mL) was added. Extracted with DCM, and the organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, evaporate to give the crude product, which was purified by column to give the title compound. MS m/z: 330 [M+1]+.
