3-(1-Benzyl-6-chloro-2-methyl-1H-indol-3-ylsulfanyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (1.08 g, 2.6 mmol) was dissolved in THF (20 mL) and the solution was cooled to −78° C. Diisobutylaluminum hydride (6.5 mL, 1.0M in THF, 6.5 mmol) was added dropwise and the reaction was stirred for 30 minutes then an additional amount of diisobutylaluminum hydride (6.5 mL, 1.0M in THF, 6.5 mmol) was added. The reaction was allowed to warm to 0° C. then quenched with H2O and HCl(aq.). The reaction was submitted to a standard workup procedure to give the title compound.
