3-(2-Oxo-propylsulfanyl)-benzoic acid from the previous reaction was dissolved in ethanol and a catalytic amount of conc. H2SO4 was added. The reaction was monitored by analytical TLC and when it was complete the reaction was concentrated to dryness and the resulting residue was purified via silica gel chromatography to give the title compound.
