Procedure

Prepared as in Example 1c from 4-ethoxyaniline and diethyl 2-(ethoxymethylene)malonate as a white solid (26%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 1.24-1.37 (m, 6H), 4.09 (q, J=6.8 Hz, 2H), 4.19 (q, J=7.2 Hz, 2H), 7.29-7.32 (m, 1H), 7.52-7.56 (m, 2H), 8.47 (s, 1H), 12.27 (s, 1H). MS 262 (MH+).
