Procedure
(S)-Methyl 2-((R)-3-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)piperidin-1-yl)-2-(2,6-difluorophenyl)acetate (185 mg, 0.481 mmol) was stirred in 3 M HCl in MeOH (5 mL) at room temperature for 24 hours and at 50° C. for 5 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo to give the bis HCl salt of (5)-methyl 2-((R)-3-aminopiperidin-1-yl)-2-(2,6-difluorophenyl)acetate as a beige solid.
