A mixture of ethyl 3-(1-ethyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-5-carboxylate (90 mg, 0.22 mmol) in 85% hydrazine monohydrate (4 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred for 4 h at room temperature. Methanol was removed under reduced pressure. The mixture was filtered and washed with water to give the crude product. The crude product was purified by prep-HPLC to give the title compound (38.5 mg, yield: 47%). 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CD3O) δ(ppm): 1.06-1.09 (t, J=7.2 Hz, 3H), 3.74-3.78 (m, 2H), 4.60-4.62 (d, J=11.6 Hz, 1H), 4.98-5.01 (d, J=11.6 Hz, 1H), 6.91-7.02 (m, 4H), 7.19-7.21 (m, 1H), 7.39-7.43 (m, 2H), 7.56-7.64 (m, 2H); LC-MS (ESI) m/z: 376 (M+1)+.
