Procedure
To a stirred solution of tert-butyl 4-((trimethylsilyl)oxy)-5,6-dihydropyridine-1(2H)-carboxylate (2.15 g, 7.92 mmol) in anhydrous acetonitrile (20 mL), selectfluor (3.08 g, 8.71 mmol) was added and stirred at room temperature for 1-2 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with saturated NaHCO3 solution. The organic layer was separated, concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography to yield tert-butyl 3-fluoro-4-oxopiperidine-1-carboxylate as a white solid (1.34 g, 78%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ; 1.50 (s, 9H), 2.49-2.63 (m, 2H), 3.20-3.27 (m, 2H), 4.11-4.21 (m, 2H), 4.76-4.80 (m, 0.5H), 4.88-4.92 (m, 0.5H).
