Procedure
A 250 mL round bottom flask is charged with sodium methanethiolate (5.18 g, 73.8 mmol), N1,N3-bis(2-(methylthio)pyridine-3-yl)benzene-1,3-diamine (13.25 g, 61.5 mmol) and Hexamethyl phosphoramide(HMPA) (100 mL). The reaction mixture is heated up to 100° C. for 7 h. The reaction is cooled to room temperature, and 100 mL of 1N HCl is added. The reaction mixture is extracted with 3×100 mL ethyl acetate. The organic portion is washed with 3×50 mL Brien, dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to yield the desired compound.
