To a solution of phenol 4 (500 mg, 1.65 mmol) in acetone (25 mL) were added 1-iodopropane (0.5 mL, 4.95 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (460 mg, 4.95 mmol) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 12 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and filtered off through celite. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica column chromatography (Biotage) to provide the title compound 5 (600 mg, 99%).
