Procedure

A mixture of 1-hydroxy-5-methylisoquinolin-4-sulfonamide (Intermediate-40) (4 mmol) in POCl3 (10 mL) was heated to 110° C. for 30 min. Then, it was poured into ice water to give precipitate that was filtered, washed with water, and dried to yield the desired compound in 80-86% yield.
