A solution of n-hexanol (25.95 g) in dichloromethane (400 ml) was slowly added to solution of N,N-carbonyldiimidazole (48.08 g) in dichloromethane (100 ml) and stirred for 2½ hour at 25-35° C. Water was added to the reaction mixture. Both the dichloromethane layer and aqueous layer were separated and the dichloromethane layer was distilled under reduced pressure to provide the title compound. Yield: 60 g
