A suspension of 5-(3,5-dibromophenyl)-1H-tetrazole (6.08 g, 20.00 mmol), diphenylmethanol (3.68 g, 20.00 mmol) and TsOH.H2O (0.38 g, 2.00 mmol) in toluene (50.0 mL) was heated to 100° C. until a clear solution was obtained. The solution was cooled to rt, and filtered. The filtration was concentrated, and the residue was purified by recrystallization in ether and hexane to afford 8.00 g (85%) of product as a white solid.
