To a solution of ethyl 1-((2-chloropyridin-4-yl)methyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylate (218 mg, 0.81 mmol) in MeOH (4.5 mL) was added NH2NH2.H2O (122 μL, 1.22 mmol) and TEA (511 μL, 3.6 mmol). The reaction was allowed to stir overnight at RT. The solvent was then removed under reduced pressure and the crude material was spun down from toluene (3×) to give 1-((2-chloropyridin-4-yl)methyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carbohydrazide as a white solid, which was used directly for the next step without further purification. MS (ES+) C10H11ClN6O requires: 266 found: 267[M+H]+.
