(2R,5S)-4-Benzyloxycarbonylmethyl-2-methyl-5-(2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-ylmethyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (4.29 g, 9.64 mmol) and 10% Pd/C (1.35 g, 1 mmol) in EtOAc (45.9 mL) were hydrogenated at room temperature and 1 bar. After stirring for 30 minutes, the reaction was filtered and solids washed with EtOAc. The filtrate was evaporated in vacuo and the residue azeotroped with toluene to give the title compound (2.9 g,). MS: [M+H]+=356.
