A mixture of 6-(1,1-difluoro-propyl)-3,3-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.398 g, 1.2 mmol), hydrochloric acid (5 M, 12 mL) and methanol (12 mL) was stirred at 20° C. for 16 h then evaporated in vacuo. The residue was azeotroped with methanol (×3) and toluene (×2) to give the title compound (0.3 g) as a solid. MS: [M+H]+=227.
