K2CO3 (610 mg, 4.4 mmol), KI (730 mg, 4.4 mmol) and oxazolidinone (170 mg, 2.2 mmol) were added to a solution of (2R,5R)-4-benzyl-5-chloromethyl-2-methyl-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (500 mg, 1.47 mmol) in acetonitrile (10 mL). The reaction was stirred at 60° C. for 3 days. The solids were filtered off and the solvent was removed in vacuo. Chromatography (40% EtOAc in petrol) gave the title compound (450 mg) as a white solid, MS: [M+H]+=390.
