A solution of tert-butyl 4-[1-{[5-(methoxymethyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]methyl}-2,4-dioxo-6-phenyl-1,4-dihydrothieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-3(2H)-yl]piperidine-1-carboxylate (872 mg; compound B8) in DCM (15 ml) is reacted with a solution of hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane (1.5 ml, 4.0 M) according to the procedure described in example B28 to afford the title compound as a solid.
