A suspension of tert-butyl 4-{1-[(4-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)methyl]-2,4-dioxo-6-phenyl-1,4-dihydrothieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-3(2H)-yl}piperidine-1-carboxylate (500 mg; compound B13) in a solution of hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane (7 ml, 4.0 M) is stirred for 2.5 h at RT. The suspension is filtered and the filter cake is washed with 1,4-dioxane to give the title compound as a solid.
