A solution of tert-butyl 4-[1-{[3-(methoxymethyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl]methyl}-2,4-dioxo-6-phenyl-1,4-dihydrothieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-3(2H)-yl]piperidine-1-carboxylate (6.61 g; compound B16) in DCM (50 ml) is reacted with a solution of hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane (7.5 ml, 4.0 M) according to the procedure described in example B28 to afford the title compound as a solid.
