To a solution of tert-butyl 5-[(2,5-dichloropyrimidin-4-yl)amino]-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta[c]pyrrole-2-carboxylate (1.29 g, 3.46 mmol) and 1,5-dimethylpyrazol-3-amine (0.80 g, 7.20 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (20 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (2.01 g, 17.60 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 100° C. overnight and adjusted to pH=10 with a saturated Na2CO3 solution, then extracted with EtOAc (100 mL×3). The combined organic phases were washed with brine (50 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc/PE (v/v)=2/1) to give the title compound as a yellow solid (294.5 mg, 19%).
