5,5′-[2-(4,6-Diphenyl-1,3,5-triazinyl)anthracene-9,10-diyl)bisquinolin-8-ol (6.95 g, 10 mmol) is dissolved in acetonitrile (300 ml), and 2.5 M n-butyl-lithium (9.9 ml, 25 mmol) is added. The solution is stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The yellow precipitate is filtered off, washed with acetonitrile and dried in vacuo (5.8 g, 80%).
