Procedure
To tert-butyl-8-(3-ethyl-6-methoxy-5-(methoxycarbonyl)pyridin-2-yl)-3,4-dihydropyrazino[1,2-a]indole-2(1H)-carboxylate (50 mg, 0.11 mmol) was added 6M HCl (1 mL) and the reaction mixture was heated to 80° C. for 1 h. The reaction mixture was then cooled to room temperature and concentrated to afford a crude residue that was triturated with Et2O. The precipitate was filtered and rinsed with Et2O to afford the title compound as a brown solid (22 mg, 50%).
