6-tert-butyl 2-ethyl 5-chloro-7-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate (11.4 g, 27.2 mmol, 1 equiv) was treated with TFA (100 mL) and stirred for 2 h. Upon completion, the reaction was concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was triturated in ether and filtered to provide the product (10.8 g, 100%) as a cream colored solid. LCMS (ESI, M+1): 283.1.
