A mixture of 3-amino-5,6-bis(4-methylphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine (500 mg), methyl methanesulphonate (0.5 cm3) and methanol (10 cm3) was stirred at 40° for 24 hours and then evaporated to dryness. The resulting yellow solid was recrystallised from acetone giving the title compound as pale yellow needles,
