A mixture of 2-(4-(4-(benzyloxy)pyrimidin-2-yl)phenyl)acetonitrile (1.2 g) in 2,2,2-trifluoroacetic acid (15 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. Then, the solvent was removed under reduce pressure. The product was washed by ether to afford 2-(4-(4-hydroxypyrimidin-2-yl)phenyl)acetonitrile (1.02 g, 85%) as white solid. The title compound was determination by LC-MS (LC-MS (m/z)=212.1 [M+H]+)
