A mixture of (S)-1-(6-bromo-2-methyl-3,4-dihydroquinoxaline-1(2H)-yl)ethanone (0.100 g, 0.372 mmol), 4-(methylsulfonyl)phenylboronic acid (0.074 g, 0.372 mmol), tris(dibenzylideneacetone)dipalladium (0.017 g, 0.019 mmol), X-Phos (0.018 g, 0.037 mmol) and cesium carbonate (0.363 g, 1.115 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (3.0 mL) and water (0.60 mL) was heated in the microwave at 80° C. for 1 h. The reaction mixture was filtered through Celite and concentrated to afford an orange oil. This material was purified via column chromatography on silica gel (Biotage 25 g column, gradient elution with 50-100% ethyl acetate-hexane) to afford (S)-1-(2-methyl-6-(4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl)-3,4-dihydroquinoxaline-1(2H)-yl)ethanone (0.121 g, 95%) as a yellow solid. MS (ESI, pos. ion) m/z 345 [M+1]+.
