6-Bromo-7-fluoro-N-(4-methyloxan-4-yl)-3-nitroquinolin-4 amine (1.215 g, 3.16 mmol) was added to iron powder (1.8 g) in acetic acid (15 mL). The mixture was stirred and heated gently with a hot air gun (approximately 60° C.) to initiate reaction. The heat source was removed and the resulting mixture was stirred for 1 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and the solids removed by filtration and discarded. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo, diluted with water and extracted with EtOAc. The organics were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to afford the desired material (1.10 g, 98%) as a brown solid which was used without further purification.
