A mixture of 4-benzyl-3-bromo-5-methoxy-4H-1,2,4-triazole (compound 91.3, 1.2 g, 4.48 mmol), methyl 4-cyclopropyl-2-methyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzoate (compound 91.1, 1.56 g, 4.93 mmol), PdCl2(dppf)CH2Cl2 (0.37 g, 0.45 mmol) and potassium carbonate (3.10 g, 22.5 mmol) in dioxane (50 mL) and water (20 mL) was degassed with argon. The mixture was heated at 90° C. for 18 hours under argon, then cooled to room temperature. The mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (300 mL) and washed with water then brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexanes:EtOAc 10:1 to 4:1) to yield 1.51 g (89%) of the title compound as thick oil. m/z (ES+) 378 (M+H)+.
