Into a 100-mL round-bottom flask, was placed (E)-4-ethoxy-1,1,1-trifluoro-3-methylbut-3-en-2-one (compound 261.1, 2.6 g, 14.3 mmol) in EtOH (20 mL). Hydrazine hydrate (1.8 mL, 38 mmol) was added and the resulting solution was stirred for 2 h at 80° C.
