Procedure

To a solution of (E)-3-(dimethylamino)-1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)prop-2-en-1-one (compound 294.1, 4.3 g, 23.4 mmol) in ethanol (20 mL) was added NH2NH2.H2O (1.41 g, 28.2 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h at 80° C. The resulting mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to yield 4.45 g (crude) of the title compound as a light yellow solid.
