To a stirred solution of benzyl 6-[bis(2-tert-butoxy-2-oxoethyl)amino]-6-oxohexanoate (5.9 g, 12.73 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (30 mL) at room temperature was added TFA (30 mL, 12.73 mmol). After stirring at room temperature for 16 hours, the mixture was concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on C18 reverse phase silica gel to give the title compound. LC-MS Method A: m/e=486 [M+1]; Rt=2.53 min. 1H NMR (CD3OD) δ 7.30 (m, 5H), 5.06 (s, 2H), 4.81 (s, 4H), 4.19 (s, 2H), 4.07 (s, 2H), 2.34 (q, 4H, J=7.03).
