Procedure

To a stirring solution of 17 (77 mg, 0.18 mmol) in THF (3 mL) and MeOH (1.5 mL) was added NaOH (0.55 mL, 1M, 0.55 mmol). The resulting solution was stirred for 2.5 hours, followed by the removal of solvent under reduced pressure. To the residue was added 0.6 mL of 1M HCl. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration and dried to yield 18 (57 mg): DSC: 217.88° C.; Analysis Calculated for C22H14NO5Cl×3.5 H2O: C, 56.24; H, 4.29; N, 2.98. Found: C, 55.84; H, 3.90; N, 2.91.
