500 mg of N-(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl)-N- methylamine hydrochloride (obtained according to European Patent No. 384,842 Example 75) and then, at 0° to 5° C., 0.55 ml of triethylamine were added to a solution of 200 mg of 5-chloropentane sulfonyl chloride in 5 ml of methylene chloride, and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours. Water was added and extraction was carried out with methylene chloride. The extracts were washed with water, then with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride, dried and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 378 mg of the expected product.
