A solution of 5-Chloro-4-(dimethylamino)-8-quinazolinol (0.45 g, 2.01 mmol) and a 40% tetrabutylammonium hydroxide solution (1.0 g, 1.54 mmol) in dichloromethane is stirred for 10 minutes at room temperature, washed sequentially with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to obtain the title product as a green oil, 0.35 g, which is identified by 1HNMR spectral analysis.
