Procedure
Methyl chloroacetate (6.2 ml, 70.3 mmol), the free base of Intermediate 51 (7.84 g, 46.9 mmol) and sodium hydrogencarbonate (7.9 g 93.8 mmol) were heated at 100° C. for 24 h. The reaction was cooled, extracted with ethyl acetate, washed with water, 2N hydrochloric acid and brine, dried (K2CO3) and evaporated to give the title compound (Intermediate 52; 11.03 g, 98%) as a brown oil.
