Procedure

The general reduction procedure of Example 11 of U.S. Pat. No. 4,617,298 was followed, using 0.78 mmol of the steroidal quaternary salt prepared in Example 117, 0.33 g of NaHCO3 and 0.41 g of Na2S2O4 in 50% aqueous methanol at 0° C., with a nitrogen purge. The product had the structural formula: ##STR146##
