To the stirred solution of 6-chloro-4-(3-chloro-phenyl)-2-isopropoxy-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (100 mg, 0.23 mmol) in DCM (4 ml) was added 0.2 ml TFA and reaction mixture was refluxed for 16 h. After cooling, the volatiles were removed under vacuum and the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (40 ml) and washed with NaHCO3 solution (10 ml). The separated organic layer was washed with brine (7 ml), dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give a crude residue which was purified by flash column chromatography (100% ethyl acetate) to afford 6-chloro-4-(3-chloro-phenyl)-2-isopropoxy-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid (14 mg, 16%) as an off white solid. LC-MS (ESI): 374 (M−H)−.
