To a solution of 1,3-difluoro-5-(methoxymethyl)benzene (0.970 g, 6.13 mmol) in THF (24 mL) at −78° C., a solution of n-BuLi in hexanes (1.6 M, 9.58 mL, 15.3 mmol) was slowly added through a dripping funnel. When addition was done, the mixture was kept at −78° C. for 1 h. 2-Isopropoxy-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (3.75 mL, 18.4 mmol) was then added in one portion. The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 1 h. The mixture was quenched with aq. NaHCO3 and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic extracts were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give sub-title compound as a colorless oil. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 6.82 (m, 2H), 4.43 (s, 2H), 3.38 (s, 3H), 1.37 (s, 12H) ppm.
