To a mixture of 1-(3-bromo-5-chloro-2-methoxy-4-methylphenyl)ethanone (0.38 g, 1.4 mmol) and N,N-dimethyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)pyridine-2-carboxamide (from PepTech, 0.46 g, 1.6 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (6 mL), potassium carbonate (0.38 g, 2.7 mmol) in water (2 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was bubbled with N2. Tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.095 g, 0.082 mmol) was added and the reaction was stirred overnight at 100° C. The reaction was diluted with water, extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4, concentrated and purified on silica gel (eluting with 0-100% EtOAc in hexanes) to give the desired product.
