To a mixture of tert-butyl 3-[3-chloro-5-(1-chloroethyl)-6-methoxy-2-methylphenyl]azetidine-1-carboxylate (1.0 g, 2.7 mmol) (from Example 1, Step 5, racemic intermediate) and 3-bromo-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-amine (0.629 g, 2.94 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (8 mL) was added potassium iodide (44 mg, 0.27 mmol) and cesium carbonate (1.30 g, 4.01 mmol). The resulting mixture was heated to 120° C. and stirred for 4 h. After cooling, water was added and stirred briefly before the solids were filtered. The resulting solids were washed with water, purified on silica gel (eluted with 0-10% MeOH in dichloromethane) to give 1.11 g (75%) of the desired product as a yellow gum. LCMS calculated for C23H29BrClN6O3 (M+H)+: m/z=551.1; Found: 551.1.
