A mixture of 1-(5-chloro-2-ethoxy-4-fluoro-3-iodophenyl)ethanone (13.3 g, 38.8 mmol) (from Example 139, Step 1), 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-vinyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (7.9 mL, 46 mmol), [1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]dichloropalladium(II), complex with dichloromethane (1:1) (1.0 g, 1.0 mmol) and potassium carbonate (16 g, 120 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (200 mL) and water (100 mL) was heated at 80° C. for 2 hours. The mixture was cooled to rt and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. Purification on silica gel using ethyl acetate in hexanes (0-30%) gave the desired compound, 7.0 g, 74%. LCMS calculated for C12H13ClFO2 (M+H)+: m/z=243.0; found: 243.1.
