4-[3-chloro-6-ethoxy-2-fluoro-5-(1-hydroxyethyl)phenyl]-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one (150 mg, 0.49 mmol) (from Step 10) was stirred in dichloromethane (4 mL) with N,N-dimethylformamide (96 μL) and thionyl chloride (110 μL, 1.5 mmol) was added. The mixture was evaporated. Water was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to give the desired compound, 159 mg, 100%.
