To a suspension of 4-aminopyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5(8H)-one (from VWR, 0.48 g, 3.0 mmol) in DMF (8 mL) was added N-iodosuccinimide (0.80 g, 3.6 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was filtered and washed with ethyl acetate to give the desired product as yellow solid (0.81 g, 95%). LCMS calculated for C7H6IN4O (M+H)+: m/z=289.0; Found: 289.0.
