Reaction Steps
The title compound was prepared from propionaldehyde and (E)-2-(2-nitro-vinyl)furan according to the general procedure. Both enantiomeric excess and diastereomeric ratio were determined by HPLC with an AD-H column at 220 nm (2-propanol:hexane=0.8:99.2), 1.0 mL/min; major enantiomer tmajor=30.44 min, minor enantiomer tminor=26.29 min. [α]D20=−20 (c=2.0, CHCl3).
