To a stirred solution of N-((4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-3-yl)methyl)-1-isopropyl-6-(1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxamide (1 g, 2.38 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) was added tert-butyl 4-oxopiperidine-1-carboxylate (1.18 g, 5.95 mmol) and acetic acid (0.17 g, 2.85 mmol) stirred it at room temperature for 2 days. Then NaBH3CN (0.224 g, 3.57 mmol) was added to it resulting reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 8 h. After completion of reaction, solvent was removed under reduced pressure and water was added to it. Extraction was carried out using ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with water, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford crude material which was purified by column chromatography to give the desired compound (0.5 g, 34.5%).
