To a solution of tert-butyl 1-oxo-2-(5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)-2,8-diazaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylate (I-16, Step A) (2.1 g, 6.2 mmol) in chloroform (50 mL) was added NCS (1.00 g, 7.49 mmol) at rt and the resulting solution was heated at 60° C. overnight. After removing the volatiles the residue was purified on silica gel column using EtOAc/hexane as eluting solvents to give the title compound. LCMS: (M+1)+: 371.11, 372.99.
