Procedure

To a slurry of 7-(cyclopropanecarboxamido)-3-(5-fluoro-2-methylphenyl)-1-methyl-2,6-naphthyridine 2-oxide (100 mg, 0.3 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 mL) was added trifluoroacetic anhydride (0.08 mL, 0.57 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The mixture was diluted with dichloromethane (50 mL) and washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (20 mL). The organic layer was separated, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and evaporated in vacuo to afford a residue that was purified by reverse phase HPLC (5-85% acetonitrile in water with 0.1% formic acid over 14 min) to afford the title compound as an off-white solid (50 mg, 50%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO) δ 11.13 (s, 1H), 9.31 (s, 1H), 8.89 (s, 1H), 8.06 (s, 1H), 7.43-7.33 (m, 2H), 7.19 (td, J=8.4, 2.6 Hz, 1H), 5.43 (t, J=5.4 Hz, 1H), 5.00 (d, J=5.4 Hz, 2H), 2.38 (s, 3H), 2.09 (m, 1H), 0.88 (m, 4H). LCMS (Method E): RT=4.553 min, M+H+=352.1.
