Hydrazine hydrate(0.5 ml) was added to a methanol solution (60 ml) of 7-[4-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydroisoindol-2-yl)butyl]-1-ethyl-3,3,5-trimethyl-1,5-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]diazepine 2,4-dione(1.93 g). The mixture was stirred for 5.5 hours while heated under reflux. After cooled to room temperature, a 1N-sodium hydroxide aqueous solution was added to the reaction mixture, followed by extraction using ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and condensed under reduced pressure to give the title compound(1.2 g) as a yellow solid.
