Procedure

A 1N-sodium hydroxide aqueous solution(1.8 ml) was added to a methanol solution (3 ml) of 2-{3-[N-(2-pyridin-3-ylethyl)-N-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)amino]propoxy}benzoic acid ethyl ester(372 mg). The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. 6N-Hydrochloric acid(0.3 ml) was added to the reaction mixture and condensed under reduced pressure. Methanol was added to the residue, and the generated insoluble matter was separated by filtration. The filtrate was condensed under reduced pressure to give the title compound(458 mg) as a colorless oil.
